Murder Mysteries Pet Games. Paws-itively Brilliant!

You are probably thinking, what do I mean by murder mystery pet games?

Picture this: murder mystery pet games where the detective is a dog, sniffing out clues with an air of determination. Meanwhile, the prime suspect is a cat, perched on the windowsill, looking as guilty as only a cat can. Sounds like the plot of the next big blockbuster, right? (Secret Life of Pet-detectives… perhaps?) Well, here at Red Herring Games, we’ve cracked the case and are pleased to introduce Murder Mysteries Pet games!

Okay, okay, we’ll come clean. This is an April Fools day Prank… And while we love the idea of a four-legged Sherlock Holmes, we’re not quite ready to launch a murder mystery pet games. But before you roll your eyes and think, “Oh, it’s just another silly prank,” let us tell you something truly unique about what we have done…

Yes, We’ve Written People’s Pets Into Games!

That’s right! While we haven’t designed any pet games (yet!), we have custom-written people’s beloved furry friends into our murder mysteries.

One of our favourite examples comes from Murder at Merkister Hall, where we transformed a customer’s pet into the faithful companion of the brigadier. The loyal pup became a key part of the story, adding a touch of charm and personality that delighted the players, with a special clue attached to his collar.

And then there’s the time we included a cat – well, not just any cat, but a half-feral creature that roamed its owner’s household grounds and for which she was always teased about. For this custom-written game, we elevated the feline to legendary status, weaving it into the plot as a mysterious “jaguar” spotted prowling the premises (For those who’ve played Murder in the Lost City – you may recognise the cat theme that we re-arranged ready for the “off the peg version of the kit”).

For some – adding in the pets too, as well as other quirky personalisations and facts are what make our games unforgettable. We love adding personal touches that bring the stories to life and make them truly one-of-a-kind.  And boy have we heard some cracking stories over the years as we endeavour to make something super personalised…

Why Personalisation Matters

At Red Herring Games, we believe that the best murder mysteries are the ones that feel personal. Whether it’s adding a pet, weaving in a unique plot twist, or tailoring characters to suit your group, we’re all about creating experiences that are as memorable as they are fun.

Our custom-written games allow you to bring your ideas to life—no matter how quirky or unconventional they might be. Got a pet you’d love to see immortalised in a game? A theme that’s close to your heart? Or a wild idea that you’re not sure anyone could pull off? Challenge accepted.

Let’s Make It Happen for you

While a full-blown murder mystery for pets might be a little far-fetched (for now), we’re always open to creative ideas. If you’ve got a beloved companion you’d like to see in the spotlight -or any other unique request – let us know!

Although we can’t do pet games right now, we can work with you to craft a game that’s tailored to your needs, whether it’s for a private party, a corporate event, or just a fun evening with friends and family.  And it doesn’t always have to be a full custom write either – we know our games well enough to be able able to tweak them a little to add in something special as a surprise – sometimes for as little as £35 – so just ask!

Don’t Be Fooled – Our Games Are Seriously Good!

April Fools’ Day may be all about jokes, but we’re dead serious about delivering the best murder mystery experiences. Whether you’re looking for a pre-written game, a fully custom adventure, or something in between, we’ve got you covered.
