Summer months are an ideal time to shift the party outdoors!
Everyone wants to enjoy the warm evenings outdoors with friends.
Being able to host a party in your garden rather than inside brings a whole new dimension to any murder mystery experience.
Different lighting, relaxed dining (so you don’t have the problem of squeezing everyone around a table) and a change of menu to suit the season makes hosting a murder mystery even easier than it is in the winter months.
It’s no surprise then that our murder mystery parties themed to summer are top favorites this time of year. Whether you want a camping themed party and celebrate with “Murder Within Tent” or whether you’re looking for more of a sporty theme, and enjoy our football themed “They think it’s all over” we have it all!
Below are some of our top picks, and some different suggestions to help you make the most of these warm summer evenings.
So crack open your gin, put your feet up and pick your next party night!
Setting the event in the garden makes decorating and theming the party even easier than normal. After all, you’re no longer constrained by the indoor spaces you have.
You don’t need to buy special lanterns or solar lighting – just use old empty jam jars and put tea lights in them. The glass protects them from the wind and also gives them an added sparkle. If you don’t want to use candles because you’re worried about fire, then buy some battery powered fairylights (or use the ones left over from Christmas) and either string them across the garden or coil them up inside jam jars for a sparkly look.
If you don’t think people will be able to see well enough to read from their booklets on the evening – then email around the downloadable character booklets, and get everyone to use their phones, the single sided copy of all our booklets is designed to be tablet or smart phone suitable. Just skip to the right booklet and use as normal digitally! (It’s also more environmentally friendly than using paper!)
Most of our summer themed parties lend themselves to easy theming.
For Anyone for Murder – why not set up a tennis court on your garden lawn, use lawn spray to mark lines. If your garden is too small for a whole court – then why not set up a swing-ball set? or failing that, just lay out some rackets and let people’s imagination do the rest.
For Bump Off at the Barbecue – gather anything vaguely Australian (flags, toy kangaroos, koalas, etc , or get some fake plastic spiders, snakes and other creapy crawlies!
For Murder in the Med – a paddling pool as the ship’s swimming pool, deck chairs with towels draped over them, a cocktail bar outdoors, deck quoits or garden games, and colours and accessories to give a Mediterranean vibe.
Or why not set out a big table and ask friends to all bring their best home baking for entry into the “big white tent” and create a real bake-off feel for “The Great British Bump Off”
