Why Did We Create Shadows in the Gallery?

At Red Herring Games, we’ve heard the same question from our community time and again: “Is there a mystery game that’s more challenging and immersive than the games we find on Amazon?” With over 18 years of experience in crafting engaging, story-driven games, we knew it was time to raise the bar.

And we did – with Cosykiller. But 5 years on, circumstances have changed and people don’t have as much free time to commit to a 12 episode story any more, so we have stripped back our usual narrative verve and created something for the time-limited sleuth – Shadows in the Gallery.

It’s designed to be solved in 2-4 hours, contains ciphers and codes aplenty to keep you occupied and there’s a story and a narrative there too if you know where to look.

Based (as all our games are) in reality but entirely fictional – this is a case for history lovers and will likely springboard you into wanting to find out more.

What Makes This Game Different?

Most case file games are quick-fire modern day solving, designed around police procedurals there’s often interviews to read and suspect dossiers.

Shadows in the Gallery is designed as a historic case, with historic files available that have had the attention to detail paid to them that our players love.

It’s designed to make you want to go deeper. Inspired by the real-life heroes of the Monuments Men, you’ll sift through authentic replica documents, decipher historical codes, and piece together a gripping story set in war torn Europe. Every clue is tactile, and every artifact feels real. It’s not just a game, it’s been designed as an immersive experience.

What’s more – we’ve listened to all our players and this game is entirely off-line. There’s no digital integration, which means nothing will “run out of date” or be “unsupported” giving it replayability. Nothing is damaged through play which means you can reset and pass on.

It’s also designed as environmentally friendly with no plastic, and using a unique flat pack box design and sleeve it’s space saving during the manufacturing saving air miles and trees.
