Created specifically for 7-10 year olds These mystery parties get the children working through a series of mystery puzzles to solve a larger conundrum. No Murder. If you have “older tweens” consider using our standard dinner parties.

We love our children’s mystery games.  They’re an easy introduction for children aged 7-10 to the world of mysteries, and yet steer clear of the more sordid side that usually accompanies the “murder mystery” side of mysteries.

It is hard to provide a free sample of a children’s mystery party as they’re not set up the same way as dinner parties or large group scripts, so providing a sample doesn’t usually help hosts.

Each one is constructed with 6 “games”, the games vary between plots. They might be a scavenger hunt style, or a puzzle. Some need props, some don’t. Some parents decide to re-design the games depending on what they have available (e.g., one suggests watching a video clip and answering questions based on that clip, but if you don’t have that particular film, then you can recreate the same activity with another fim clip). The games are designed to provide a structure to the series of activities and it’s only when taken all together that the children can solve the case presented to them.

Someof our children’s mystery games are pitched for the older age range of 10-11 years but enjoyed by all, some are pitched slightly younger. And every child is different at this age. Reading ages vary widely and abilities and preferences of the kids also vary widely in the 7-10 year bracket. Some kids as young as 4 and 5 have played our games with support from older ones and some kids at only 9 feel they have “outgrown” the children’s parties.  So it’s very hard to get a good reliable “fit”.

Instead of samples – what we always say with children’s parties is that because it’s so hard to pitch it correctly for children’s party games, if you download it and decide it’s not what you need or won’t work for your group, we’re always happy to refund it or exchange it at no cost and with no quibbles. Just email us and we will sort it all out.

We’d rather you got the right party, than worried about causing hassle at our end!

So what to do is download the one you like the look of, see if it’ll work for your family and if you think it won’t, we can swap you to another one, or any other game until we get the right fit for you.

We may need to do a few switcheros on the games until you find the right party fit for your group, but we’ll get there in the end.

A few suggestions of slightly “older” pitched games:

Mystery of Dino Island was originally written for a 10 year old.

An Intergallactic Mystery was originally written for an 11 year old.

MI 4 3/4s was originally written for a party planner looking to entertain 9-11 year olds.

Tweenagers… those between 10 and 13… specifically…

It is really hard with tweenage children. Some kids are “young at heart” and prefer the running around puzzle solving as a group style games that we sell for children’s parties. Some are “mature” in years and prefer to play dinner party games like adults.

So a lot depends on the maturity of both your child and also that of their friends.

Some of our children’s mysteries are aimed at slightly older children  Other children’s mysteries will feel “too young” for some kids.

If you think they’d all prefer an “adult” style game where they all play a character, then it’s best to look at our dinner party game section for a teen rated game.  Teen rated games will have “tamer” plot lines.

You will need to find the right party kit for your group, but we can often help with skewed gender balance – just let us know what you have and what games you’re interested in, and then we can quote to adjust the game.

It’s often easiest to call us to talk it through with one of us so we can chat to you about what would work best. Feel free to give us a call or drop us an email if you’d like to chat it through wtih someone.  We’d rather you got the right fit for you than tried to shoehorn your kids into something that won’t work.  We also work with a number of other suppliers, and it may be that what they sell might suit you better.

Need Help Picking the Right Game?

We’ve done our best to order the games by theme. This will help you decide quickly which sort of theme you’d like to run. We’ve also given you the option to search by most popular, number of attendees or by rating. You can also review what people have said about the games by looking at our reviews section and pick one that way.

If you are still unsure where to start, then have a think about the guests you plan to invite first. Get together a list of your likely attendees and look through a few game titles which “float your boat”. Can you imagine your friends in those character roles? If the answer is “yes” then you’ve found the game for you!

When all else fails – feel free to call us for some advice on +44 (0)2030 112 215 or email us. We’ve played over half of the games in the catalogue ourselves, and the boss has proofed every single one, so someone in the office will be able to short-cut to the right game for you.
