Murder Mystery Events

Events information

Which script should I pick?
Large group mystery games come in a variety of formats and you need to pick a format that will work best for you and your event. We sell a variety of games which may suit, from single stage performances to multi-room performances that will get your guests visiting many different rooms. Some games work best conducted at a table – the perfect choice for mystery meals. Other games are run with guests visiting different rooms and listening to cast talking.
See us in action
Hopefully these few videos will give you a taster of how we operate. With every event booking we bring all the guest materials with us for a quality guest experience, and no one is ever left clueless about what is going on. We also bring prize packs and certificates and ensure the event is rounded off with a proper denouement and prize giving.
Team building events
When customers first approach us from a business looking to run a murder mystery as a Team Building event our first question is often... "What are you trying to achieve?" Team building has become one of those "non-phrases".  Back in the day, it used to mean a facilitated workshop where groups would learn something about how they interacted with each other, and how to improve their team-work skills.  These days the phrase team building covers everything from a trip to the pub for lunch, to an all expenses paid trip to the Tropics to learn survival skills.
Hen/Stag parties
So you're Best Man or Maid of Honour? Congratulations! Before the panic sets in - relax!  We have years of experience organising Hen Parties and Stag Parties of all shapes and sizes. Every bride and bridegroom is unique, which means every party is different! What you need is a firm who will actually listen to your requirements and will then find something that will suit your budget, your venue and your invited guests. We'll happily discuss your party needs with you and give you an indication of what format of game would work best.
Bespoke events
We have a “can do” attitude when it comes to bespoke events We have a team of writers in-house who can research and create a bespoke event just for you. So if you are looking to really showcase your facilities, include something historic about your venue, include some funny anecdotes from family personalities or work colleagues or generally have a game that’s more tailored to your guests – then we can do it. If you need an event that runs slightly differently, that doesn’t include meal breaks, or that needs some team building options or a slight change of format to work without tables and as something more free flowing – then again – we can do it.
Participative murder mystery evenings
A participative murder mystery evening is an evening with a difference. Rather than going out for a meal and being “entertained” by our professional team of actors,  here YOU are the suspects! Participative murder mysteries are great fun for those who love to “ham it up”. If you are chosen as a suspect on the evening you'll be given your character booklet for the night which will contain any lines you must deliver.  You'll also be given information that your character knows about other suspects and background information you will be revealing about your character throughout the evening.  If you need any props we'll provide them too, all you need to do is turn up, in costume and be prepared for a great night out!
Multi-room murder mystery events
With suspects in every room to interrogate, a handful of murder weapons to examine and a crime scene to investigate, your guests will love solving one of our Multi-room murder mysteries! Fantastic for showcasing your venue and great for team-building, multi-room mystery evenings are popular with all wannabe sleuths and provide guests with the latest version of murder mystery evenings in the UK. Of all the murder mysteries we run, these are the format guests love the best.  If you really want to show off, then these are ideal.

Flexible and fun!

We contacted Red-Herring-Games for a party for a special occasion. Why going to restaurants to eat is the preferred activity to mark milestones is beyond me and my friends.   The choice of mystery was obvious, looking at the options from New Zealand on the web Red Herring stuck out from the international options.  A quick look at the site and games showed subtlety as well a range of choices.  The numbers you could have for each evening was important,  Red Herring had scaling options a good range of scenarios but most importantly were Jo and team being flexible, responsive and helpful.

Thank you Red Herring Games for the marvellous 'Murder!  Cargo Connections?' event that you organised for us as part of Museums at Night at the Fishing Heritage Centre in Grimsby. The whole evening went so well and was brilliant fun.  I know from all the feedback that our visitors had a fantastic time. It was really good working with you and I have no doubt that we will do again in the not too distant future.

A. Nonymous (council employee)

I would like to thank you and your colleague for helping contribute towards our successful conference last month.  Everyone really seemed to enjoy the evening and it was rewarding that so many delegates were able to participate in addition to the main "Actors".  Our conference evaluation froms included the following comments:
  • "Enjoyed the evening entertainment!"
  • The evening entertainment was great and the confusion made it great fun!"
With thanks and best wishes.

I had no idea what to expect before purchasing a ticket for Old, New, Borrowed, Blue, which was being staged at a nearby hotel, and feared it might involve taking part in some way. However thankfully for me no acting was necessary, just some amateur sleuthing. "Wedding guests" of which I was one, were called upon to move from room to room in the hotel in groups, questioning a number of possible murderers with the aim of solving the mystery of the dead bridegroom. The interviewees were really fun characters and gave us all some good laughs. Of course they all had motives and it was a case of identifying the shiftiest. The wedding theme was particularly good, as it fitted well with the venue, the buffet that was part of the evening (with a wedding cake in the middle) and the fact that everyone had been able to dress up to fit in without going to the trouble of fancy dress. I didn't think I had enough "evidence" to actually accuse anyone but later regretted not even writing down my first guess as it wouldn't have been too far off the mark. The evening was great fun and everyone seemed to enjoy it and take part. I would definitely recommend Old, New, Borrowed, Blue as good for getting even reluctant or first-time mystery party-goers involved.

Alan Young (Personal Touch Mortgages)

What a cracking nights entertainment! We don't get out much nowadays with 2 kids and this was exactly what we were looking for in a good night out. Lots of fun with tongue firmly in cheek and everyone kept guessing whodunnit right to the very end. Would definitely attend another!!!!!
