It is 1970. The Bootles are the most successful band ever; they have shattered all records with their sell-out world tours, and sales of both albums and singles.
There have been rumblings of unhappiness within the band for some time, but it still rocked the world when they announced that they were to split and go their separate ways.
That means the end for the Bootles? Pear Corps venture which has been a financial disaster. Now a bad situation is made worse by the suspicious death of Paulo Fone, a senior figure in the Pear Corps with a sound financial mind but an unerring knack of making himself unpopular.
You?d have thought the people around the Bootles had enough to worry about, without contemplating murder?
The suspects:
Paul McCartthrob - The pretty boy.
Bass player with the band, Paul?s cheeky smile and quick wit makes him a big favourite with the fans.
Linda McCartthrob - Paul?s long haired lady.
Linda dresses to reflect her country life and animal welfare activities. Let the fans think what they want.
John Lemon - The cutting edge musician.
Round glasses, long hair, cutting wit.
Yoko Oyes - The Japanese artist.
Yoko dresses to lead the fashion of the early 1970s, and doesn?t care what it costs.
Bill Bungalow - The big game farmer.
Larger than life in his safari jacket and baggy shorts, Bill is nobody?s fool. But he might be a bit short on morals.
Apple Scruffs - The Groupie.
Bootlemania personified, Apple?s cheap and cheerful tie-dye clothes reflect the fact that stalking pop stars doesn?t pay well.
Martin George - The producer.
Iconic producer of the most successful band in the world, Martin?s sharp suits match his sharp business brain.
Layla Harrisong - The ex wife.
Layla decided that George wasn?t for her, although his money comes in useful for buying designer mini skirts.
George Harrisong - Rhythm guitarist.
The quiet talent in the band, George?s music talks for him - but he does like the psychedelic clothes!
Rita Metermaid - The traffic warden.
Embittered Rita is driven by an obsessive pursuit of compensation for the use of her name.
Pete Vest - The discarded drummer.
Pete?s down-at-heel dress contrasts with the wealth of the Bootles. And it should have been him!
Jane Ashley - The ex-girlfriend.
She?s a model and she?s looking good.
